Vigan & Bantay Church

Arriving at Vigan after that movie-filled 8-hour bus ride, we arrive at Hotel Salcedo.

According to Plan A, we would have overnight here, but now we are just bunking in at 7am in the morning and off we go for another photography trip.

Philippines’ famous sausage. Very short and if there’s more, filling too. The name is… let me check it up… Vigan Longanisa :D

Vigan is a place with stoned roads and brick buildings. So horses on with carriages just add to the antique feel of it.

The ONLY white horse we saw amongst the blacks and browns.

The Ten Commandments

1. I am the Lord Your God : You shall not have other gods beside me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord Your God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord’s day.
4. Honor your father and your mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.

The commandments are the same as I learnt when I was a child, but in a slightly different order.

Ask me not why that crown’s up there. Probably to signify that Jesus is the Lord of that place. That’ll make a good impression.

I asked why the Lord Jesus is in a coffin.

The answer was that He died on good friday.

I remember that Jesus died on a cross, buried in a tomb and rose again on the third day. Nothing about a coffin. But guess it would bring out some emotional feelings among some visitors to question their faith and turn them towards God somehow.

Hung are prayers to virgin Mary, to Jesus, for forgiveness and blessings.

Just a thought, Jesus said that He is the The Way to the Father. he’s going to be the only way, not by works nor by any other gods.

Only 1 way.

It almost seems that whenever God limits our choices, we seem to wanna fight for our “rights” to have more.

The desire to find more than one way to the Father.

The desire to have more than one wife.

The desire to float when we already have the legs to walk with.

Probably it’s in the rebellious human nature, even if God gave 100 ways to Him, we’ll still want the 101th way.

Human nature is greedy? Ungrateful?

There has to be a lesson to be to learnt.
