On a shopping trip out with my sister in the mall, a tiny store had an aquarium filled with tiny turtles. In a vain attempt to escape, they pile onto each other trying just to get over the edge into the land of the free.
If you have a pet turtle, here are some tips that you can use to take care of them.
Turtles have different needs according to their types and species. Some are meant for the water and some for dry land.
- Your tap water mustn’t contain chlorine or it will shorten the turtle’s life span really quickly.
- When the turtles go into their hibernating period, no one must go near and touch them (especially children) because they might just wake up and snap you or the kids. Who wants to be woken u pin the middle of a deep sleep anyways.
- Put yourself in the turtle ‘shoes’ and imagine the trauma they face when a giant lifts them out of their habitats. Don’t pick or touch your turtles so frequently!
- Always wash your hands before and after playing with your turtle to avoid any bacterial infections that might be transferred during the play time. Without washing, your bacteria and oily hands could kill it while the turtle’s bacteria could give you a terrible stomachache when ingested.
Last but not least, take a plethora of turtle photography pictures!
