SIBKL YA Camp 2011 – Decisions

SIBKL YA Camp 2011 was held at Kajang Country Heights Resort on 26th to 28th November 2011.

This is possibly the last camp held until further notice.

We all started with games first. Get the blood pumping. After some introduction and grouping, we got tied up to each other with strings, on a treasure hunt.

We hunted all around the campsite till it started to rain. Rewarded with sweets and chocolates as point system. Feeling like kids. Nevertheless the YA Camp committee outsmarts us by marking the candies otherwise us ‘kids’ with cars would zoom to the nearest grocery store and buy our own ‘points’. Good thinking.

Each team is numbered alphabetically. Then to make have a name starting with their alphabet. Then a song related to their alphabetical names. For example my group was “L” which spurred “Lazy Lembu”. Amongst other interesting names were “KABOOM” and “piku-piku”.

Having in-house pastors to preach is very homely. They are much more familiar of what the people needs to hear.

Pastor Victor was up first that night to preach on “How To Say I Do”.
To break the ice, pick a person in your group to be in the middle. Now that person is to go up to anyone in the group and make a marriage proposal, and in anyway possible, without body contact, propose and get the other party to laugh. If the other party laughs, he or she exchanges place with the one in the center.

One particular guy had this commando face. Solid, unmovable, like a mountain. His good friend who knows him so well, is a TV actor. Even with his superb skill, unmoved. What’s his secret? “Just don’t think about it”. I learned something.

Moving on, Pastor Victor reenacted a marriage ceremony. Each group has a role to dress one of their members with the roles of either bride’s dad, bride’s mom, groom’s dad, groom’s mom, flower girl, page boy, bridesmaid, best man, bride and groom.

With mere paper & garbage bags and time constraint, so much creativity poured forth from the unity of each group! Check out the attention to details of tie and handkerchief of the groom, the veil and dress of the bride, the petals and dress of the flowergirl, the gigantic ring and pillow of the page boy, mustache and hat of the old man, overall japanese look of the mother. Creative!

But the night is still young…
