Hebrews 2 : Pay More Careful Attention!

Beginnings of the warnings of the book of Hebrews
Do not treat what u heard of Jesus as fairy through tale.
V1. Pay more careful ATTENTION!
Jesus is the final revelation
Warning #1: drifting from the Word (2:1-4)
Warning #2: do not doubt nor harden your heart to the Word (3:7-4:13)
Warning #3: dullness towards the Word (5:11-6:20)
Warning #4: despising the Word (10:26-39)
Warning #5: defying the Word (12:14-29)

These 5 warnings are progressive. From chapter 2 to chapter 12.
Drifting : is insiduos, not noticable
How does one drift?
Carelessness of anchoring
Did not tie carefully to causing the anchor to come loose
Does not have an anchor
“do not make a ship wreck of ur own life” says Paul.

Prevention from drifting:
HOW u hear – the attitude of your heart
Pay more careful ATTENTION!
Neglect! (prayer, cell, fellowship, church, worship)
How else will u escape 12:25-29

WHAT u hear – the THEOLOGICAL ANCHOR
Jesus – our THROLOGICAL ANCHOR
Jesus the author of our salvation has
1. Brought many sons to glory (v10)
We were made for glory, we lost our glory but JESUS came into bring many sons back to glory!
It is sons He is bringing back. An identity is given, as a son of God!

2. Shares in our humanity (v14)
2 v10. Salvation perfected through suffering

3. Tasted death for all to believe (v9)
3 kinds of death.
Spiritual death – separation of soul from God
Physical death – separation of the body from spirit
Eternal death – separation of soul and spirit from God
Jesus removed the fear of death!
