Giraffe Gracing Leaves | Wildlife Photography

Long time ago, Africa or revered the giraffe as some more than cultures still practiced today. You can find pictures and photographs of giraffes depicted in the painting on prehistoric rock and caves. Uniquely described as being magnificent, bizarre, unique, colossal and inoffensive in character.

Taking a picture of a giraffe proves to be a challenge because it’s height.  It’s not fat enough to fill the screen without including additional “distracting elements” such as rocks, desert & palm trees into the picture.

The giraffes are herbivores by nature. The long necks allow them to reach for leaves high up in the tree where most animals can’t get to. Giraffes can flourish in areas that have much food the whole year round.

Although they drink water in abundance, they can survive where it is scarce. If you have ever photograph a giraffe drinking water, you will catch them in an awkward position for they have to spread the legs wide open, stretching their necks way down to the water pool below for a few licks.

A few general facts of giraffes:
The giraffes size is 5.2 meters head height.
The giraffes weight up to 1,400 kg.
The lifespan is 28 years.
The giraffes predators are humans and wild dogs.

A few observations of giraffes:
Their spots are purely for decorative purposes.
The bald horns signifies that it’s a male. Males are horny!
If you must know, the female giraffes have hairy tufts of hair on top of their horns.
Giraffes fight with their necks.
Have anyone tamed and rode on a giraffe before?
Giraffes make great portrait shots.
