Day 2 in China :

Pandas!!!! Oh the cute cute, nationally protected, paid to laze, eat, and loll around all day. Even the tour guide wished he was one.

This optional tour costs RM75 per person. Lasted no more than 1/2 hour. Hate that everyone wants to go back so fast. I mean, come on! Pandas man!

Miniature of people watching puppet shows in the olden days.

Puppet show ran by kids! This is a terribly run down place. I should have taken a pic of the toilet. Really ancient. Think hole in the ground. If you take off your pants and hover, you might just get a cold wind… or a wiff of what’s down there! X_X

Navy Seal tree?

Frozen lake! We ain’t the only weird people there fascinated by the frozen water.

Ain’t this little boy cute?! He almost looks like a penguin!

Xiyanglou Area (European Buildings)
in the northern part of Changchuyuan once stood of European style garden, commonly called Xiyanglou (European Buildings). The 70,000 meters garden had over 10 buildings and courtyards, respectively called Xieqiqu, Xianfaqiao, Huanghuazhen, Yangquelong, Fangwaiguan, Haiyantang, Yuanyingguan, Dashifa, Guanshuifa, Xianfashan and Xianfahua. Planning began in 1747 (the 12th year of the reign of Emperor Qianlong). It was designed under the guidance of Italian painter Giuseppe Castiglione and French missionary Michel Benoist, and was built by Chinese craftsmen. The architectural style was Baroque and the landscaping was Le Notre. It’s landscaping and architectural creations also embodied lots of traditional Chinese techniques. In its heyday of Xiyanglou, the Qing imperial court made a set off copper plates, comprising 20 elevation perspective architectural drawings. Drawn by Yi Lantai, and imperial court painter from the Man ethinic group, these copper plates were carved by the craftsmen of the Imperial Workshop.
In 1860 when the allied forces of Britain and France burnt Yuanmingyuan two ruins, most of these European style halls and pavilions partially survived because they had been mainly built with stone materials. They continued to stay there for over a century, reminding people of the national humiliation.

Next we had the Chinese tea.

Cups changes color from black to red & green when hot tea is poured from in.
